Jan O. Grillos, a longtime member of the Oak Park LGBTQ+ organization OPALGA+ who was formerly from Denver, passed away March 2.

Grillos was a systems programmer for United and Frontier Airlines, Sales Executive for several technology companies, and as a financial intermediary for privately held businesses, his official obituary stated on the Elmhurst Community Funeral Home website stated.

According to an email from the organization, Grillos was chair of the OPALGA+ Scholarship Committee and, later, on the OPALGA+ board. He attended many potlucks, joining in singing at every chance.

Grillos is survived by husband Chuck Scharenberg; his children, Rob (Holly) Grillos and Jackie (Ricky Morgan) Folena; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his siblings, John M. (Patricia) Grillos, Aleta (Byron) Trauger and Stephanie (Jere) Ellis; his former wife, Lizbeth L. Grillos; his nieces and nephew; and the many family and friends who loved him dearly.
