The theme of the 41st convention is “Championing Anti-racism, Leading with Love.”
“During the organization’s history, local chapters of NABWMT and our ally affiliates have created environments and venues for gay men [who are Black], white and of other racial/ethnic groups to socialize, share civic interests and aspirations, and to work together to address
matters of injustice,” according to a press release.
A group outing to George Floyd Square on July 7 will be followed by a public panel discussion with elected officials and activists to highlight and foster the rethinking of public safety in Minneapolis. The convention schedule also includes Minneapolis City Council President Andrea Jenkins—a Black, trans individual who is also a poet and who will be one
of three keynote speakers. There will also be a Talent/No Talent show, social events, small group outings to local attractions and more.
