The Baton's Continental pageants to take place Sept. 2-5

The iconic club known as The Baton—celebrating more than five decades of entertaining with performers who excel in the art of female impersonation, according to the website—will hold its Continental pageants Sept. 2-5 in Chicago.

The 18th Annual Miss Continental Elite Pageant will take place Friday, Sept. 2, at the Park West Theater, 322 W. Armitage Ave. The 19th Annual Mr. Continental Pageant will take place Saturday, Sept. 3, at the same venue.

Then the action switches to the Riviera Theater, 4746 N. Racine Ave., with the 31st Annual Miss Continental Plus Pageant holding court on Sunday, Sept. 4. The events conclude at the Riviera on Monday, Sept. 5, with the 42nd Annual Miss Continental Pageant.

According to a Facebook post from Baton owner Jim Flint, the final night will feature 1980 Miss Continental Chilli Pepper, 1985 winner Maya Douglas, 1987 victor Dana Douglas, 1992 winner Mimi Marks, 1999 winner Tommie Ross, 2002 winner Yoshiko Oshiro, 2112 winner Sasha Colby, 2017 victor Shantel D’Marco and 2019 winner Vanessa van Cartier.
