Windy City Times co-founder and Chicago Reader publisher Tracy Baim will host “Chicago’s LGBTQ Past, Present and Future; A Special October LGBTQ History Month Program” on Saturday, Oct. 1, 1-3 p.m., at UpRising Bakery and Cafe at 2104 W. Algonquin Rd., Lake in the Hills.

Uprising is the venue that recently hosted a family-friendly drag show—but only after a series of events that included everything from vandalism to tussles with the village board.

Baim—who’s also the author of 13 LGBTQ+ books and the producer of three LGBTQ+ films—will discuss the history of LGBTQ+ people in Chicago and the surrounding areas.

See “Chicago’s LGBTQ Past, Present and Future; A Special October LGBTQ History Month Program” on Facebook for more information about the free event.
