In local pro women’s soccer action, the Chicago Red Stars closed the UKG Challenge Cup play in historic fashion with three goals all assisted by defender Casey Krueger, blanking the Houston Dash 3-0 on Aug. 5 at SeatGeek Stadium, per a press release.
Rookie Penelope Hocking recorded her second brace of 2023 after scoring two goals in the first half.
Yuki Nagasato scored the team’s third goal in the game’s 50th minute.
Krueger’s three assists made for the first three-assist game in UKG Challenge Cup history and the first three-assist game for a Red Star in any competition.
Chicago’s next game has the Orlando Pride visiting SeatGeek Stadium on Sunday, Aug. 20 at 6 p.m. CT.
