In their first meeting of the season, the Chicago Red Stars took down the expansion squad Bay FC 2-1 on May 5.
Penelope Hocking and Ally Schlegel scored goals for Chicago. Hocking’s score was her first since July 2023; Schlegel’s goal marked the first time the forward has scored in consecutive matches in her professional career.
The victory was Chicago’s first come-from-behind win this season.
The Red Stars will see Bay FC one more time this season—on June 8 at Wrigley Field for the first NWSL match at the venue. However, Chicago’s actual next game will be on May 12 against the Utah Royals at 4:30 p.m. CT at SeatGeek Stadium.
