The Chicago Sky (11-21) fell to the Minnesota Lynx 79-74 inside Target Center in Minneapolis on Sept. 1—but player Angel Reese entered the record books.
Reese hauled in 19 rebounds, breaking the WNBA record for most rebounds in a single season. She passed Sylvia Fowles (404 total rebounds in 2018) with 418 rebounds after the game, with eight games left to play this season. She also broke the record for most offensive rebounds in a single season, passing Yolanda Griffith (162 offensive rebounds in 2001) for first on the all-time list with 165—and counting.
Also, Reese is the fastest player to grab 400 rebounds in WNBA history, taking just 32 games to achieve the feat (besting Tina Charles’ record of 35 games).
Kamilla Cardoso scored a career-high 22 points in the loss. Michaela Onyenwere scored at least 15 points for the fourth straight game while Dana Evans added eight points off the bench.
The Sky will stay on the road to take on the Las Vegas Aces on Tuesday, Sept. 3, at 9 p.m. CT. This will be the fourth and final matchup between the Sky and Aces this regular season. The game will be available locally on The U and Marquee Sports Network App.
