On Oct. 20, the Trident Social Club held its annual chili cook-off contest benefitting the Broadway Youth Center(BYC) and the Leather Museum & Archives (LMA).
The event—the second of two annual fundraisers benefitting BYC and LMA, with the other being Trident’s cupcake competition in the spring—featured a total of eight bars and organizations participating, with guests and supporters choosing the winners.
This year’s entrants included Onyx, Imperial Court of Chicago , Illinois Gay Rodeo Association, Titans of the Midwest, Illinois Gay Bears, Mr. Chicago Leather 2024, and Chicago Pet Parade. The relatively new social group Leather Dyke Parade made its debut as well at the event, which was held at the Leather Archives & Museum.
Guests and supporters bought scorecards and were invited to sample the variety of entrants, and vote on their favorites. They could donate to “Pleasure” or “Pain” boxes as well.
This year’s winners were Chef Cliff of the Illinois Leather Bear Contest taking fan favorite; Chef Duncan of the Illinois Imperial Court taking first place; Chef Louisa of Chicago Leather Dyke Picnic taking second place; and Chef Cheshire of Onyx taking third place.
