Shawn Michael Scherbroeck, 43, of Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood, passed away unexpectedly at home Dec. 12, 2024.
Born in Rock Island, Illinois, Shawn graduated from Orion High School, where he sang in the choir. Shawn worked in the Chicago area as an optical assistant at Northwestern Medicine Optometry in Evanston. Recently, he studied for and passed his American Board Opticianry exam and became a designated certified optician. He was very proud of that accomplishment.
Shawn is survived by his sister Christine “Chrissy” Scherbroeck of East Moline, Illinois; aunts Carol (the late Michael) Stine of Davenport, Iowa and Jeanette Boyd of Albuquerque; and stepmother Renee DeBel of Moline.
Shawn was preceded in death by his parents Peter M. “Mick” and Karen (nee Reed) Scherbroeck of Moline.
