A beautiful morning greeted the fifth annual Grayslake Pride Parade on June 8. After four years of hosting by PFLAG Grayslake/Round Lake, this year the host was the newly formed The Better Together Project. President Ivy Woods and Treasurer Charli Ann Robinson carried the organization’s banner in the parade.
Hundreds of spectators lined the parade route in Historic Downtown Grayslake in a celebration of love and inclusion. After a welcoming message from Kardamin Politzer, president of PFLAG Grayslake/Round Lake, the festivities began with marchers and floats including PFLAG, LGBTQ+ Center of Lake County, congregations from local churches, politicians, circus performers and even Lake County Treasurer Holly Kim’s pet goat, Tanya.
