On June 22, Affinity Community Services held its annual It’s A Family Affair: Affinity’s Annual Pride Family Picnic in the Dan Ryan Woods at 87th and Western Avenue—despite a heat-index topping 100 degrees.

Even with the high temperatures, the organization welcomed members, family and friends to a leisurely afternoon of good food, warm companionship and deep groove cuts provided by DJ Dreea. The laid-back affair has become a regular Pride celebration since 2013.
Affinity Community Services is a Black- and queer-led organization on the South Side of Chicago dedicated to social justice, with a particular focus on Black women and the Black LGBTQ+ Community for the last 25 years.
