On July 4 David Dodd Events, Chicago Urban Pride, Rails Marketing and Trade Entertainment launched the Black LGBTQ+ season with a kickoff party at Dime, 2263 N. Lincoln Ave.
Promoted as a day party, the event titled “Firewerks” was an appetizer for eight other parties taking place over the Independence Day weekend on both the North and South Sides of town. For this post Pride Month event, DJ ChiFeel provided the beats while guests spent the afternoon and evening drinking, dancing and socializing.
The founders of Chicago Black Pride United—David Dodd, Trina Truluv, Damon Wardlow, Deonte Pennington, Bernard Johnson and Ken Beach—have been producing Chicago Black Pride events since 1999.
