On Halloween night, for the 28th time, the North Halsted Business Alliance brought the traditionally raucous Haunted Halsted Halloween Parade and Costume Contest Festival to Chicago’s Halsted St.

The parade traveled Halsted Street from Belmont to Brompton avenues, amassing an overflow crowd despite a nip in the air and some anemic rainshowers. All along the route parade-goers reveled in costumes, creativity and naughty treats.

The grand Marshall for the evening was Emmy winner Raven along with costume contest co-hosts Batty Davis and Lilith Towers. Other performers included Khloe Park and Pagina while DJ Saint Devera provided the beats.

There was much on hand for the Halsted Parade traditionalists, including a “Thriller”-inspired zombie stomp featuring a mob of the undead; performances from Chicago Spirit Brigade and Lakeside Pride Marching Band; fire breathers; tumblers; and acrobats. The closing costume contest was half the fun, with categories that included ‘Most Creative,’ ‘Scariest,’ ‘Group Concept’ and ‘Youth.’ The winners divvied up cash prizes worth $4,000.
