On Oct. 2, FashionBar LLC presented its 9th Annual Fall Trans Media Fashion Show at Water Tower Place, 875 N. Michigan Ave. The presentation was the second of the year and featured clothing and designs from IAMTONYLONG, Out of the Closet, Haley from the Third Period and Brown Elephant and served as a fundraiser for Vernita Gray Council for Philanthropy and Broadway Youth Center.

Guests were treated to refreshments from Spirits and Spice and drag performances from Luna Eclipse, Femme De Violette, and host Haley from the Third Period. Representatives from Nissa’s Nana Pudding & More as well as Fashion Mod Skincare and Lakeview Wellness Center were present as well.

At the start of the show, creator Tony Long said, “We’ve been doing this twice a year for nine years, and this is to help our Trans and non-binary community to express themselves. The Trans Media Fashion Show is very important to me because when you are young and don’t have a space and community to grow, filling that space means a lot.”

The flavor of this edition of the show was self-creation and DIY fashion, with host Haley from the Third Period speaking on her passion for found items, including their line of elaborate head pieces which debuted later in the evening.
Resale shops Out of the Closet and The Brown Elephant were a major part of the show with assembled outfits presented during the runway show by Trans and non-binary models of different backgrounds, gender identities and body types.
