A 21-year-old man is being held on $2 million bond after being charged with the murder of a Naperville man with whom he’d just moved in, the Chicago Tribune reported Jan. 25.
Grant Muren has been charged with murdering Charles Clarke, 55, who lived in a townhouse in the 1100 block of Vail Court. Clarke’s girlfriend found his body on Jan. 22.
Clarke and Muren met through Craigslist, where Clarke had advertised for a roommate, according to Assistant State’s Attorney Tim Diamond. Muren moved in Jan. 21, the day of the murder.
According to prosecutors, Muren, who is charged with first-degree murder and concealment of a homicide, said he attacked Clarke after they’d been sexually intimate. Muren allegedly choked Clarke to death after a long struggle, then flooded the residence with natural gas and tried to destroy his lease paperwork in a toaster.
