Red carpets rolled out all over the Windy City Feb. 24 to celebrate the achievements in the world of cinema with the 85th Academy Awards.

The Gene Siskel Center had guests enjoying themed cocktails and being treated to hair and makeup touchups by Blow by Blow, with the awards being shown in two movie theaters.

Vital Bridges Center on Chronic Care raised money for HIV/AIDS-affected people with its third Oscars viewing party, this time at Chuck’s Manufacturing restaurant. This modern venue had some of the best corn dog and munchies, along with Garrett Popcorn to snack on while watching the show.

Center on Halsted continued its annual party at the Park West, where champagne bottles popped and red velvet cake was served.

Overall, the night viewers guessed who would take home golden statues. Argo smuggled out the Best Picture win, and Daniel Day Lewis and Jennifer Lewis grabbed the major acting awards of the evening. With parties like these in our fair city, no one had to watch the Academy Awards alone. Text and photos by Jerry Nunn
