Lady Gaga, Vaughn take polar plunge
In Chicago, singer Lady Gaga and actor Vince Vaughn were among several thousand people who plunged into the icy waters of Lake Michigan March 1 to support the Special Olympics, The Chicago Tribune noted.
The 15th annual Polar Plunge in Chicago took place at North Avenue Beach. Vaughn, a longtime Chicago Blackhawks fan and Lake Forest native, wore his Blackhawks jersey.
Gaga took the plunge with fiance and Chicago Fire actor Taylor Kinney, NBC 5 Chicago reported. Mayoral candidate Jesus “Chuy” Garcia was scheduled to appear at the plunge, as was Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez.
Last year, comedian Jimmy Fallon helped raise more than $1 million at the event.
Michael Sam to take up ‘Dancing’
Michael Sam is competing in a different area: dancing.
TMZ has reported that Sam will be participating on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars, Yahoo! Sports noted. Sam, who announced to the world a little more than a year ago that he’s gay, is not currently on an NFL roster.
The free-agent defensive end has been out of work since being released by the Dallas Cowboys from their practice squad last season.
The show is set to start filming its 20th season on March 16. In addition, Sam has said he’d like to participate in the NFL’s first-ever veterans combine, which takes place on March 22.
