Three months after Chicago hosted the spectacle that was the 2006 Gay Games, local organizers will hold a final warehouse sale in cooperation with the Brown Elephant, the resale shops that benefit Chicago’s Howard Brown Health Center. The event will take place Oct. 21-22 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Lakeview and Andersonville Brown Elephant locations, which are 3651 N. Halsted and 5404 N. Clark, respectively.

Items available for sale will include country and state banners used in the Opening and Closing ceremonies; street pole banners that flew throughout the city; directional signage and banners that hung at sports and cultural venues; T-shirts, posters, pins, music CDs, photo DVDs and other commemorative merchandise; sponsor-donated products like Gatorade water coolers; and miscellaneous other furniture, signage and products used for the Games.

The Gay Games VII Sports and Cultural Festival took place July 15-22. More than 11,000 athletes from 70 countries competed in 30 sports ranging from darts to tennis.
