The Pitchfork Music Festival will not take place in Chicago next year, Block Club Chicago noted.

No exact reason was given for the development although festival co-founder Mike Reed told the Chicago Sun-Times in 2023 that there was concern about the shift in Chicago’s music scene, citing the event’s declining attendance. This year, the event took place in Union Park on July 19-21 and featured acts such as Bratmobile, De La Soul, MUNA, Alanis Morissette and Carly Rae Jepsen, per Windy City Times.

“This decision was not made lightly,” Pitchfork organizers wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “For 19 years, Pitchfork Music Festival has been a celebration of music, art and community—a space where memories were made, voices were amplified and the shared love of music brought us all together.”

Ald. Walter Burnett (27th Ward) said the city does not want Pitchfork to leave and will try to get organizers to stay.
