More than 70 youth and youth educators attended the day-long summit.
There were educational workshops, HIV/AIDS/STD prevention programs, booths from local non-profits working on GLBTQ youth issues, a performance by Latin Soul, and music by DJ Harry T.
There was also a speech about Latino AIDS Awareness Day, and give-aways for the youth.
Workshop titles included: ‘Playing with Boyz—Gay Sex,’ ‘Between Girls—Lesbian Sex,’ ‘Enough—Domestic Violence,’ ‘Silent Voices—Transgender Issues,’ ‘Coming Out,’ and ‘Self Esteem.’ Some workshops were also in Spanish.
Co-coordinators of the event were Carlos Samaniego and Celso Cardenas, both who work at Project VIDA. Samaniego is the Axis Prevention Case Manager, and Cardenas is the LINX (YMSM) Program Coordinator.
