Evette Cardona and Ronna Hoffberg were recipients of the 2001 ACLU Roger Baldwin Foundation John R. Hammell Awards. The awards are named for the first director of the ACLU of Illinois Gay and Lesbian Rights/AIDS and Civil Liberties Projects. The awards brunch was co-chaired by Rick Raguse and Mary Cay Marubio, with honorary co-chair Sam Bezanis. Pamela Sumners is the current director of the gay and AIDS projects for the ACLU.
