“I have two cases in various stages of the federal court system dealing with gay rights, primarily recognition of gay families,” reports suburban Chicagoan Bob Mueller.

The arguments are based on three Constitutional principles-;equal protection, separation of church and state, and cruel and unusual punishment.

“The vehicle for the suit is the IRS, as it is the definer of family to the federal government. The evidence consists of General Accounting Office reports and the Congressional Records from the Defense of Marriage debate,” Mueller said. “The goal is to get the Defense of Marriage Act amended to include guidelines by which the federal government will recognize gay partners as families.”

“I have done one of these before, bearing the cost myself. It will cost about $3,000 to print and file this case. I am requesting contributions,” he said. A full accounting including a copy of brief will be provided on request. Address questions to sheltodbob@mediaone.net. Send contributions to Bob Mueller, 311 Maple, Downers Grove, IL 60515.
