Alexandra Billings performed a special limited engagement of her 1996 work Before I Disappear last weekend at Bailiwick, co-hosted by Lampkin Music Group. The project heads to The Producers Club Off Broadway in April and then back to the Pride Series in June. Updated since its first production, the show continues to shine. From her childhood as a boy to her life as a woman living with AIDS, this is one amazing piece—just Alex, just the stage, and just wonderful.
In other news, the staged readings of Patricia Kane’s new work, Pulp, have gotten a great response. Part of About Face Theatre’s Festival of New Plays at MCA, Pulp is a campy treat based on the high-drama of 1950s lesbian pulp novels.
