Numerous media outlets, including the Drudge Report, say Madonna’s new video for her song American Life ends with a look-alike President Bush with a grenade in his lap—thrown there by Madonna herself. ‘It is not me being anti-Bush, it’s me being ironic and tongue in cheek,’ Madonna told Access Hollywood. ‘My kind of wish for peace and my desire to sort of turn a weapon of destruction, which is a grenade, into something that is completely innocuous.’ But something or somebody must have got to her—she has now said the video (complete with transvestite soldiers) is being shelved, at least in the U.S.
