Associated Press reports that The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is giving $60 million to help scientists discover a gel, cream or other similar product that prevents or reduces the risk of HIV infection among women in developing countries.
The grant to the International Partnership for Microbicides in Silver Spring, Md., is one of the largest the foundation has made for global health initiatives. Gays hope the research also includes how the microbicides impact anal risk.
