A much-touted surprise opener of the 20th Anniversary of the MTV Music Awards was definitely a surprise. Not only did it feature the queen of pop, Madonna, but it kicked off with a tribute to her very first appearance on the awards show when she sang ‘Like A Virgin’ in a wedding dress. The catch? Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera were in the wedding dresses singing the song before Madonna stepped out of a wedding cake dressed in a tux singing her new release, ‘Hollywood.’ What ensued next was some touching, grinding and your regular ‘Madonna-esque/Lesbian-esque’ antics complete with a kiss with Britney, where Ms. Spears slipped Mo a little tongue (thanks to the extreme close up we got to catch it all). Quick cut to ex-beau Justin Timberlake in the audience looking a bit upset. Quick cut back to Christina’s liplock moment. The ‘Material Girl’ does it again, kicking off what ended up being a not-so-exciting show!
Could it be Justin is a little bit homophobic? When Jimmy Fallon of Saturday Night Live joined the Queer Eye for the Straight Guys on stage to present an award, the camera caught Justin making a face of disgust as the Queer guys joked about fashion and the fact Fallon was ‘one of them’ so to speak. Not only did Justin come out looking like a bit of a ‘phobe but after some scripted banter the Queer Guys continued to joke with Fallon until he came back with ‘have you ever heard of Black Eye from the Straight Guy?’ Hmmm … Jimmy, a little defensive, aren’t we?
