The Hearts Foundation held its annual fall fundraiser which officially kicked off the organization’s 2004 fundraising season on Oct. 16 at the Sofitel Chicago Water Tower. The event featured the announcement of the Foundation’s 2004 grant recipient designees and upcoming event plans, and it honored longtime supporters Gary Metzner and Scott Johnson with the organization’s Biggest Individual Heart Award. The award is given annually in recognition of an individual’s ‘unselfish contributions’ to the Foundation’s education and fundraising efforts in the battle of HIV and AIDS and in support of Chicago’s GLBT community.
Beneficiaries: GOLD: AIDS Legal Council of Chicago, Chicago House, Horizons, Howard Brown Health Center, Test Positive Aware Network, Vital Bridges.
SILVER: Lesbian Community Cancer Project, Heartland Alliances Spang Dental Clinic, Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund, About Face Youth Theatre, CALOR, Interfaith House, Gerber/Hart Library.
BRONZE: Better Existence with HIV, Health Works Theatre, Legal Assistance Foundation of Metropolitan Chicago, Oak Park Area Lesbian Gay Association, Open Door Clinic.—————————————-
