Robert J. Perioli, 33, a well-known character along Halsted Street who was affectionately known as ‘Paunchy’ or ‘Cokie the Clown,’ passed away Oct. 4.
Son of Heidi and the late Robert Perioli, beloved grandson of Anna Perioli of Scranton, Penn., best friend of Tony Williams and David Mosley, and dear former roommate of Anns Barton.
Perioli will be most remembered, by those who knew and loved him, for his sparkling personality. An impromptu memorial service was held Oct. 6, on what would have been his 34th birthday.
A formal memorial is planned in the form of a boat cruise off Navy Pier next summer.
