Tim Peske of San Francisco and Palm Springs passed away Jan. 6, less than three weeks before his 57th birthday. He died from complications following surgery performed just prior to Christmas. He enjoyed a large circle of friends across the country, all of whom will miss him greatly.

Tim was born on Jan 24, 1947 in Milwaukee. Like many gay men, he relocated to San Francisco in 1978, immediately joining the San Francisco Lesbian/Gay Freedom Band as an original member. Tim loved playing his baritone horn and participated in dozens of parades and concerts over the years. When he began spending part of his time in Palm Springs, Tim joined the Desert Winds Freedom Band.

Tim lived in San Francisco until 1990 when a work opportunity led to a move to Chicago. While there, he got heavily involved with Open Hand, helping to deliver meals to people with AIDS. The siren song of San Francisco (plus another job opportunity) eventually called Tim back to the West Coast in 1998.
