About Face Theatre congratulates the creative team of I Am My Own Wife for receiving three 2004 Tony Award nominations. Already a critical and popular success on Broadway, as well as the recipient of the 2004 Pulitzer Prize in drama, Doug Wright’s I Am My Own Wife has been honored with nominations in the categories of Best Play, Best Actor [Jefferson Mays], and Best Director [Moisés Kaufman]. The 2004 Tony Awards will be announced June 6. Developed in Chicago by About Face Theatre, in cooperation with the Museum of Contemporary Art, the one man tour de force I Am My Own Wife featured Obie-Award winning actor Jefferson Mays and the direction of Emmy-Award nominated Moisés Kaufman. Wicked had 10 noms, including one for best musical. Bombay Dreams had just three minor noms. Avenue Q and Caroline, or Change also made the best-musical cut, and got 6 nominations each. The Boy From Oz got a best musical nod.
