Rohan Barrett, 19, is an undergraduate student at University of Illinois-Chicago, studying Mathematics Education and Political Science. He has been the Social Chair of the Pride Group at his university and also received a scholarship from the Point Foundation, a national organization dedicated to giving scholarships to GLBT youth. As a Point Foundation Scholar, Rohan had to do an annual project and last year he incorporated his involvement with About Face Youth Theatre to do an anti-bullying and harassment presentation. At About Face Theatre, Rohan is an actor in plays that deal with issues facing GLBT youth and he considers his work activism towards ending bigotry and homophobia.

Rohan said one of the biggest issues impacting GLBT youth is the importance of safe, harassment-free schools. Rohan’s role models have been the Point Foundation Chicago board members, who have worked alongside him and inspired him to be a leader in the community.
