Jay Powell, 87 (nee Kenneth Shurtleff), retired cosmetologist, property manager, entertainer, bon vivant, World War II U.S. Army Paratrooper, avid traveller, and great lover of poodles, passed away Oct. 4 after a long struggle. He was beloved life partner of the late Wilbur ‘Bud’ Smith. He is survived by many dear friends who will miss his grand parties. A fitting celebration of his life is being planned. Jay’s cremated remains will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
