Some bars this week have really put the fun in fundraising. Hydrate raked in over $2,000 for the Gay Games with their Turnabout Drag Show. Poor Mark (or whatever her name was that night) went and lost her wig. Now that’s commitment to a cause. Meanwhile, up north at Jackhammer, quite a bit o’ green was raised for Vital Bridges, courtesy of Gina, Jimmy and the inimitable Barbie Doll, who stunned with a rare performance. It was truly her show.
All right, you tech-savvy homos and homettes (whichever bag you’re in). Get thee to Crew this Tuesday for the very first Night of the Pod. Take control of the tunage with your own special iPod mix and leave yourself open to the praise and/or ridicule of your friends. Steve and Brian have plucked this idea from the clubs of London. You’re cooler than London, aren’t you Chicago?
Fun-filled fiesta at Pour House this weekend for their 31st anniversary.
A big thanks to Stella for setting me straight (as it were) last night. Perspective is a saving grace sometimes.
And confidential to a certain played out drag queen whose picture will never appear in this rag again: just because Nightspots actually prints some pictures of lesbians don’t make it “that lesbian magazine.” And even if it were, you are certainly not too good to be on the cover. It’s free publicity. Hock one of your cheap wigs and buy a fucking clue.
