Dorothy ‘Rita’ Adams, a familiar sight on North Halsted Street, passed away recently at the age of 79. According to a sketch in the Chicago Tribune, her career as a bartender and waitress included working at the Chicago Hilton and Melrose Restaurant. In 1989, she started working at Roscoe’s and then at Rehab at Circuit, earning the nickname ‘Rita Margarita.’ Her funeral took place Dec. 11 and Roscoe’s held a tribute to her Dec. 13. People may make gifts to the charities of their choice on her behalf.
