Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago and the city’s Department of Cultural Affairs team up once again to bring the Jazz Dance World Festival to Chicago tonight through Aug. 6. Sparkling jazz dance troupes from France, Japan and Italy will join American favorites—among them eight of Chicago’s best dance ensembles—in nimble displays of anything-but-classical Terpsichore. Just watch them fly through the air! The Jazz Dance World Festival is the public component of the 14th annual Jazz Dance World Congress, last held here in 2002. All performances are at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance, 205 E. Randolph; (312) 344-7777; $45. LEFT: Battleworks (New York) doing Takademe. RIGHT: Koresh Dance Co. of Philadelphia.
