Patrick Langballe, a 29-year-old suburban Chicago man who pleaded guilty to hate crimes in the robbery and beating of two women at Illinois Beach State Park in Zion, has been sentenced to two and a half years in prison by a Lake County judge, according to WQAD.com.

Twenty-year-old Aaron Rush of Green Bay, Wis., had previously been sentenced to three years in prison.

Prosecutors have said the men met the women at a Milwaukee bus station in June and talked them into going camping in Illinois. Authorities say the attack happened after one of the women told the men that she and her friend were lesbians. The women suffered minor injuries.

Both men originally faced other charges, including armed robbery, but those were dropped in exchange for their guilty pleas.
