A Life in the Theatre, Goodman Theatre through April 9. A not-always-wiser older man passes his wisdom and craft to a younger man in David Mamet’s surprisingly sentimental comedy. David Darlow is exceptional as the older actor in this sterling production. JA

Johnny Tremain, Lifeline Theatre, through April 9. Geoff Button and Bryson Engelen are teen heroes worthy of a series on the WB, but Paul Myers’s performance as pompous King George III steals the show in this adventure set at the dawn of our country’s birth. MSB

Killers, Mary-Arrchie Theatre at Angel Island, through April 9. Pulp fiction at its sweaty best in an NYPD Blue-rated production featuring some of the best character actors on the storefront circuit in a tale of sordid secrets in the Naked City. MSB

Two for the Show, Theatre Wit at Theatre Building, through April 22. If you like those 1950s Bing Crosby/Danny Kaye movie musicals, you’ll like this charmingly hokey tale of two vaudevillians, played with affable energy by Will Clinger and Bret Tuomi. JA
