Victory Gardens Theater and Gilyard Productions, LLC, have teamed up to present the Chicago debut of My Children, My Africa on May 3-June 10, at the Victory Gardens Greenhouse, 2257 N. Lincoln.

Cecil O’Neal, one of the eight original founders of Victory Gardens in 1974, will direct the production. Clarence Gilyard—best known for his roles on the hit TV series Matlock and Walker, Texas Ranger—will make his Chicago stage debut as Mr. M, an Black teacher in 1984 South Africa who pairs his protégé Thami, a gifted but impatient black township youth, with Isabel, a young white prep school girl, for an extracurricular national literacy competition.
