Local LGBT Catholic organization The Rainbow Sash Movement (RSM) has announced that it will challenge the practices of the Catholic Church on May 27, this year’s Pentecost.
As a call to solidarity, each RSM member will wear a ribbon of rainbow colors across the shoulders, and will present themselves to receive communion. RSM members plan to attend Holy Name Cathedral on Pentecost Sunday for the 11 a.m. liturgy. Supporters are urged to attend as well.
Priests have withheld communion from people wearing the rainbow sash in years past.
