Theatre at the Center in nearby Munster, Ind., presents Grease in what may be its last regional production before the new Broadway revival opens in August. As everyone must know, Grease began life in 1971 in a Chicago Off-Loop theater and soon became one of biggest phenomenons in recent Broadway history. It was written by Chicagoans about the greasers at Taft High School (Rydell High in the show), and the Chicago original was a lot raunchier than the suburbanized version of screen and Broadway stage. Still, the score bubbles with pseudo-1950s songs that remain a joy to hear. Grease plays through June 3 at Theatre at the Center, 1040 Ridge, Munster, Ind.; 219-836-3255; $36-$39.
