In the United Kingdom, a former physical education instructor allegedly committed suicide because he was afraid of being outed, according to ThisIsHampshire.net.

Clive Richards, 67, apparently hanged himself the day before he was scheduled to appear in court after being charged with indecency.

Longtime friend Les Graddon told a judicial inquest that Richards told him he was having same-sex relationships. ‘ [Richards] was more concerned that the fact he was homosexual was going to come out in the press,’ Graddon said.

Richards was a member of a local rugby club as well as part of a choir and a local amateur opera society.
