Hannah Free, a lesbian feature filmed in Chicago last November, had its World Premiere at the Frameline Film Festival in San Francisco June 28, at the famed 1,600-seat Castro Theatre. The sold-out show received a standing ovation. Rosie O’Donnell introduced the film for her friend Sharon Gless, who stars as Hannah. Many of the Chicago-based cast and crew attended the opening, as well as a special pre-event at Orson restaurant the night before. See www.hannahfree.com for details on upcoming screenings. A Chicago debut in September will be announced soon. Also see the Hannah Free Facebook fan page: www.facebook.com/pages/Hannah-Free/76436188517?ref=ts.

Those attending included cast: Sharon Gless, Ann Hagemann, Jacqui Jackson, Kelli Strickland, Bev Spangler, Maureen Gallagher, Taylor Miller, Meg Thalken, and Shawn Murray. Crew and producers attending included: director Wendy Jo Carlton, editor Sharon Zurek, music composer Martie Marro, screenwriter Claudia Allen, director of photography Gretchen Warthen, and executive producer Tracy Baim.

During the weekend, the cast and crew also celebrated at Orson restaurant, and Sharon Gless marched the Dyke March after speaking to more than 50,000 women gathered at Delores Park June 27.
