Billy Elliot the Musical, Ford Center for the Performing Arts, Oriental Theatre, through Nov. 28. You’ve still got four days to see the musical that made it safe for little boys in ballet shoes to defy gravity. MSB

The Four of Us, Theater Wit, through Dec. 4. Itamar Moses’ comedy of two talented writers who grow into “frenemies” once one of them achieves massive success is full of wit and clever performances. There’s also a twist near the end that smartly questions the whole notion of truth in storytelling. SCM

K., The Hypocrites at Chopin Theatre, through Nov. 28. This is a lively, engaging adaptation of Kafka’s The Trial, performed with dazzling meta-theatrical precision. Under director/adapter Greg Allen, it has all the Byzantine fun of fighting a traffic ticket… with your life at stake! JA

Peter Pan, Lookingglass Theatre, through Jan. 2. Before the super high-tech British tent version arrives in Chicago next year, catch this revisionist homegrown adaptation of J.M. Barrie’s classic tale of the boy who wouldn’t grow up. Yes, you can see all the ropes and harnesses for the flying effects, but it’s still theatrically magical. SCM
