It’s hard to believe that a graduate of Brigham Young University would become so famous for writing plays and directing films populated with such nasty (and some critics would say mysogynistic) characters. Yet that’s a hallmark of Neil LaBute, who has found a local champion in Profiles Theatre. Hear from LaBute himself in An Evening with Neil LaBute, which also features readings from his work as part of a one-night-only fundraiser for Profiles Theatre. The event begins with a 6:30 p.m. reception and 7:30 p.m. performance on Saturday, Jan. 8, at Profiles Theatre, 4147 N. Broadway. Tickets are $60; call 773-549-1815 or visit www.profilestheatre.org.
