Early ticket buyers were treated to a sneak preview lunch of Broadway in Chicago’s upcoming season with a video presentation at the Palmer House. Many shows were featured, such as Cyndi Lauper and Harvey Fierstein’s upcoming musical, Kinky Boots, and the highly anticipated The Book of Mormon.

Guests were surprised to see Joey the War House galloping into the room to showcase it’s December debut. Finn Caldwell, the associate puppetry director of the show War House, was on hand to describe the mechanics of the three men inside the contraption. Ariel Heller (head), Ross Green (heart), and Ian Piers (hind) all bring Joey to life in puppetry motion.

Michael Morpurgo’s War Horse novel became the inspiration for this five-time Tony Award-winning show that inspired a Steven Spielberg film that garnered six Oscar nominations.

Joey travels to Australia before returning to Chicago starting a three-week engagement, Dec. 18-Jan. 5 at the Cadillac Palace Theatre. Visit www.BroadwayInChicago.com for ticket details and information, as the race to get a prize seat has already begun. Photos and text by Jerry Nunn
