The purpose is to give skills for the day of the Chicago Dyke March. Historically the Safety Marshalls have been utilized to make sure everyone participating or watching the march is safe. The training will provide de-escalation skills, working with the police, and a transgender 101 component. Safety Marshalls are an important part for the march to be successful, safe, and enjoyable for everyone.
There will be a second training in June. Details still to be announced.
The Chicago Dyke March Collective is a grassroots mobilization for dyke, queer, bisexual, and transgender resilience. This year’s Dyke March will happen in the Uptown neighborhood on Saturday, June 23, 2012.
