“Dandy Lion: (Re) Articulating Black Masculine Identity” is an exhibit that will run through July 12 at the Museum of Contemporary Photography, 600 S. Michigan Ave.

A press release stated, “The first comprehensive exhibition of its kind, this project highlights of Black masculinity by remixing Victorian-era fashion with traditional African sartorial sensibilities.”

A related symposium will take place Friday, April 10, 2-6 p.m., at the museum. It will feature curator Shantrelle P. Lewis; Monica Miller, author of Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity; author Nichelle Gainer; photographer Arteh Odjidja; Naomi Beckwith of the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago; art historian Amy Mooney; and exhibiting artists.
