Chicago’s creativity was honored Sept. 14 at the 3rd Annual Fifth Star Awards, a night of stars under the stars honoring legendary Chicago artists and cultural institutions with live performances and video tributes.
The event took place at Millennium Park.
This year’s honorees were blues legend Buddy Guy, celebrated photographer Victor Skrebneski, Black Ensemble Theater Founder/CEO Jackie Taylor, museum founder/educator Carlos Tortolero and sketch-comedy theater The Second City. Joshlyn Camille Lomax received the “Rising Star” Youth Award.
Among some of the presenters and performers were supermodel Cindy Crawford, singer Shemekia Copeland, Black Ensemble Theater, actor/comedian Fred Willard and guitarist Guy King. The Q Brothers hosted.
