Four gay men cross generations and decades in Hurricane Damage—Kevin Brofsky’s funny, sad, hopeful and emotionally layered exploration of dreams snuffed out by the AIDS pandemic and lives (and loves) that thrived in spite of it. Brofsky takes on big issues—aging, mortality, love, lust and chosen families—with a specificity that’s as memorable as it is moving. It’s tough to imagine a better cast (Charles Berglund, Danne W. Taylor, Jesse Montoya and Tom Chiola) light the stage. It runs through Aug. 26 at the Pride Arts Center at the Broadway, 4139 N. Broadway; $20-$30; PrideArtsChicago.com.
