The owner of popular Boystown nightclub Scarlet responded to recent claims that the club discriminates against its female patrons.

The bar has received five Yelp reviews since March alleging that its staff discriminated against women, or that female patrons are often harassed there.

“Prime spot for harassment. Women beware,” one Yelper claimed in a September post.

“Based of other reviews, this seems to be a pattern. The employees are incredibly disrespectful and discriminating,” another Yelper said in September, claiming they witnessed a male bouncer “forcefully and aggressively” remove a female patron by shoving her out the door.

One Yelper claimed they were kicked out for quickly using the men’s bathroom, and another said they weren’t allowed to use the women’s restroom shortly before the bar’s closing.

In an emailed statement, Scarlet general manager A.J. Miranda refuted the gender-discrimination claims, stating, “Scarlet has been and will continue to be a space that is inclusive of all identities. Regardless of sex, gender, etc.”
